Unitiva Napoli Women Basketball is preparing for a new game as they take on Halley Thunder Matelica tomorrow in the second round of Group B of the Italian Women’s Serie A2 Championship. The game will be played at the Palestra della Libertà in Matelica (Macerata), with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Coach Braidotti’s team, come from an impressive opening-game win against Umbertide after two overtimes, now faces another challenging matchup against one of the strongest teams in the league. Last season, Matelica won the Serie A2 Italian Cup and reached the playoff semifinals. In the opening round of the current season, Halley Thunder suffered a 72–60 defeat away to Ragusa, on a notoriously difficult court. The game will be officiated by Matteo Paglialunga from Fabriano and Tommaso Pepe from Deruta.
Coach Braidotti:
“We are facing a very strong team, with quality and depth in every position. Last year, they achieved significant results, winning the Italian Cup.
We want to play our game without overcomplicating things tactically. Our goal is to impose our tempo and win the battle on the boards, so that we can stay within striking distance until the very end and give ourselves a chance to bring home the win.
Our training week has been disrupted by a virus that has affected the team. However, I am confident that all the players available for the game will be ready to build on the enthusiasm generated by our latest victory. We will focus on our strengths and take it one possession at a time, aiming to deliver the best performance possible.”
The game will be streamed live on a pay-per-view basis on Flima, accessible through the official Lega Basket Femminile website: www.legabasketfemminile.it
