NAPOLI BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO SCAFATI, UNITIVA NWB HOSTS ALCAMO AT THE ALCOTT ARENA

Another exciting Sunday of basketball awaits the Neapolitan Teams. Both Napoli Basketball and Unitiva Napoli Women Basket will be in action tomorrow at 6:00 PM. Coach Repesa’s team will travel to face Longobardi Scafati in the derby, while Coach Braidotti’s women’s team will host Sicily by Car Alcamo at the Alcott Arena.

Coming off their win in the European derby against Trento earlier this week, Napoli Basketball will be looking to maintain their excellent form in the domestic league as well. The Neapolitan team have won their last two games, securing five victories in their last six outings. They currently sit at the top of the standings with 10 points, level with Virtus Bologna and Nutribullet Treviso. Longobardi Scafati, meanwhile, are coming off a defeat in Rome, which was only decided in the final quarter. However, in their last home game, they secured their first win of the season, beating Dolomiti Energia Trentino. The Yellow and Blue currently have two points in the standings, level with Tortona. The game will be officiated by Michele Rossi, Sergio Noce and Martino Galasso.

There will be several players on the Scafati roster, all former Napoli players. Head coach Piero Bucchi coached Napoli during the 2001/2002 season and again from 2005 to 2008. Alessandro Lever played for Napoli in the 2023/24 season, winning the Italian Cup. Antonio Iannuzzi wore the Azzurri jersey during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons in Serie A2, playing a key role in the promotion to Serie A1 and the Italian Cup victory in Serie A2. Bruno Mascolo played for Napoli during the 2017/18 season, while Marco Ceron was part of the team in the 2013/14 Serie A2 season.

Guglielmo Caruso, Napoli Basketball Captain:
“We know we're in for a tough game. It's a derby, and the atmosphere in the arena will be electric. Scafati will look to set the tone with great intensity from the outset, and we'll need to match that energy. It's important that we stay focused for the full 40 minutes, remain aware of our strengths and weaknesses, and continue to work on the areas where we need to improve. This is an important game for our fans and the club, but above all for our team, as we look to build on our excellent start to the season.”

The game will be broadcast live on TV and streamed on LBA TV. Live updates will also be available on Napoli Basketball’s social media channels. We would also like to remind fans that all Napoli Basketball Serie A games can be watched exclusively in the USA and Canada on the YouTube channel “Napoli Basketball TV”.

Meanwhile, after a weekend off, Unitiva Napoli Women Basket are preparing for a tough matchup against Sicily by Car Alcamo. Both teams currently sit third in the standings with six points. Alcamo are coming off an impressive home victory over Matelica, winning 67–47. Coach Ferrara’s team have won all three of their home games so far, but have lost both away fixtures, against Umbertide and in the local derby against Ragusa.

Cristian Braidotti, Unitiva NWB Head Coach:
“We are facing a high-calibre team in our group. Alcamo narrowly lost the derby against Ragusa, but then secured a convincing win over Matelica. We've had a somewhat inconsistent week of training, but over the past few days I've seen the girls really fired up and motivated for this game. We always play to win, and any technical or physical shortcomings will have to be made up for with heart, determination and grit. We are ready. Our goal is to bring more and more people into the arena. We hope our fans will come out and support us. I'm sure they'll be caught up in our team's intensity, passion and desire to compete.”

Admission to the Unitiva Napoli vs. Sicily by Car Alcamo game at the Alcott Arena will be free of charge. The game will also be streamed live on Flima TV, available through the official website www.legabasketfemminile.it.
