Unitiva Napoli Women Basketball suffered their first league defeat of the season. The team coached by Braidotti went down to highly rated Passalacqua Ragusa, losing 48–81.
Unitiva Napoli Women Basketball were once again without Kosla. Ragusa opened the scoring with a three-pointer from Guzzoni. Napoli responded immediately, with Botteghi scoring four points. Guzzoni then extended the Sicilian side’s lead with five consecutive points. A three-pointer from Heriaud put Ragusa ahead 18–10, forcing Braidotti to call a timeout. Ragusa continued to pull away, closing the first quarter with a commanding 30–12 lead.
Napoli tried to fight back at the start of the second quarter, putting together a 5–0 run. Ragusa responded immediately with a 7–0 run of their own. The visitors continued to extend their advantage and went into halftime leading by 23 points, 45–22.
The course of the game did not change in the third quarter. Despite Napoli’s attempts to respond, the home side also lost Leghissa to injury. Ragusa continued to build on their substantial lead, ending the third quarter ahead 65–35. Led by Johnson and Guzzoni, Ragusa comfortably managed their advantage and deservedly secured the victory, with the final score standing at 81–48.
Unitiva Napoli Women Basketball will return to action next Saturday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m., away against Salerno Basket 92.
Coach Braidotti:
“There was no contest today. Our opponents came out very strong, showing the difference between the two teams at this stage of the season. We tried to increase our defensive pressure, but their quality allowed them to find a way through. “This defeat will help us get our feet back on the ground and understand that our main objective remains avoiding relegation. The victories in the first two rounds were certainly very important. Now we need to focus on our next game against Salerno, which is crucial for us.”
