S.S. Napoli Basket announces that Alessandro Magro has been appointed Head Coach. The new coach of the blue team, born in Castelfiorentino (Florence) on October 14, 1982, has signed a three-year contract with the club.
Magro began coaching at just 22 years of age in Serie A as an assistant coach at Livorno. After a brief stint at Viola Reggio Calabria, he moved to Mens Sana Siena in 2006, where he remained for eight seasons, becoming assistant coach of the first team and head coach of the youth teams. In 2014, he became the new coach of Fulgor Omegna until 2016. He then moved to Leonessa Brescia, where he remained on coach Diana's staff for three seasons. In 2019, he became Luca Banchi's assistant at Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia. He then ended the season with an experience in Poland, where he was hired by Dąbrowa Górnicza.
In 2021, he returned to Pallacanestro Brescia as head coach. In three seasons, the Florentine coach led the Brescia team to the playoffs twice (quarterfinals in 2022 and semifinals in 2024), but above all, he won the Italian Cup in 2023. In 2022, Magro was also appointed coach of the Italian Under-20 national team, with which he participated in the U-20 European Championship in Montenegro. In the 2021/22 season, he won the LBA Best Coach award. Last season, Magro was hired by BC Wolves in the Lithuanian league, also participating in the EuroCup.
