Napoli Basketball is proud to announce the signing of American forward Aamir Simms to a one-year deal. The 6’8” (203 cm) power forward was born on February 17, 1999, in East Orange, New Jersey. He began his basketball career at Fluvanna County High School before earning a scholarship to Blue Ridge School, where he led the team to two state championships and was named Central Virginia Player of the Year.
Simms went on to play four seasons at Clemson University, helping the Tigers reach the NCAA Sweet 16 in his freshman year. In the summer of 2021, he joined the New York Knicks for NBA Summer League action and then played the full season with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League.
He made his European debut in the 2022-23 season with Paris Basketball, starting 30 league games and averaging 13.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, shooting an efficient 60% from two and 45% from three. In EuroCup play, he added 13.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, shooting 62% from two and 40% from deep over 15 appearances.
Simms moved to Italy in 2023 to join Reyer Venezia, where he spent the last two seasons competing in both domestic league and EuroCup. In Lega Basket Serie A, he tallied 55 appearances, averaging 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in his first year, followed by 7.8 points and 3.7 rebounds last season. He now returns to Naples, where he previously won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2019 Universiade.
